Hi all, The AutoSave Draft feature is now disabled across the site. The decision to disable the feature was made via a poll last year. The delay in putting it in place was due to a bug/update issue. This should serve as a reminder to manually save your drafts if you wish to keep them. Thanks, The Boards Team.

European tour have followed pga tour in not releasing players

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,248 ✭✭✭✭ Mantis Toboggan

But surely they can't stop the players who aren't contracted to any tour?

Oh Jesus when you said European tour I thought you meant some of the better players on the actual tour, not players levels down again

Is the Ladies European tour joint owned with the men's european tour? If not then not related.

Just read the first few posts on this thread, and I agree about Garcia, a nasty little immature child, and I just read Graeme mcdowell is joining up, he must be trying to grow the game by playing 18 holes in 5 hours and holing a few gritty 10 foot par putts, absolutely nothing stands out about that man, and if Mcilroy did what he has done, he’d be destroyed by the people who don’t like him, Greg Norman is a completely different level of scumbag, I’m just surprised none of them Harmon clowns are involved, they would do anything for money

Harmon clowns? As in Butch? One of the most respected coaches and analysts in golf?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,456 ✭✭✭ Mysterypunter

As in Claude , advisor to king Hassan of Morocco who plays on his private course, while oppressing most of his people, he is a clown, and butch is not far off, money hungry people who live in a golf bubble

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,248 ✭✭✭✭ Mantis Toboggan

Advisor to the king of morocco? What's that? Is he the minister for defence down there or just deciding how high the taxes are?

Must be some bubble! Claude is dead 30 odd years and King Hassan 20 odd years.

As Rich Beem said other day he thinks this relates to the history Norman and PGA tour have.

    Maybe he’s right

Apart from the money I don’t see the appeal in it. All but short or having a game of bingo, bango bongo.

Claude 2 and king Hassan 2, nice smart arse answer ok,

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,456 ✭✭✭ Mysterypunter

Golf guru to him, king Hassan fancies himself as a bit of a golfer, Claude was or maybe still is his private coach

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,456 ✭✭✭ Mysterypunter

Claude is actually Claude 3, how many claudes are there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,092 ✭✭✭✭ PARlance

King Mohammed has been on the throne since King Hassan died in 1999.

This weekends PGA Tour event is about as perfect an advertisement for LIV Golf. Proper competition to the PGA is definitely needed, and it's never going to come from the European Tour.

Scores massively under par on a completely uninspiring course. Watched half an hour on the Friday and Saturday and it was complete and utter garbage as the yanks would say.

I thought the Byron Nelson was a decent watch but I agree with the broader point about the ridiculously easy courses. Apparently the courses that the LIV series are being played on are all awful too though, the one in London is supposed to be dreadful. Think it has a 450 yard par 5.

I have always had this question whether Professionals are happier with TPC Craig Ranch or a Harbour Town or similarly more difficult layout, but obviously not a US Open set up, on a weekly basis.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,248 ✭✭✭✭ Mantis Toboggan

I'd imagine most are happy when making birdies, generally this way the week before a major and it serves as a big boost of confidence going into the PGA.

Bland says he is playing and what happens afterwards so be it. He's 50 so understandable he wants to earn as much as possible as his days will be numbers soon.

I see €80 a single day ground pass. I guess the prize fund has to be funded

Really does seem to be shaping up to be more of a competitor to the PGA Seniors Tour than the regular PGA Tour.

If that is the case, they're won't be much longevity in it imo. These kind of things need a big launch or they tend to fall by the wayside in terms of attention.

Can't see many people getting excited by seeing Westwood and Bland battling it out.

I would have thought that it would need 10-15 of the world's top 50 or so golfers to really get off the mark.

i see Mcilroy has now changed his tune, it was dead in the water and it couldnt start without him or other players he was saying and yesterday he did a complete turnaround saying his stance had "softened" , typical from him it's all just waffle.

It's going to happen there is too much money involved i mean Jack Nicklaus said he was offered a 100 mill to be the face of the tour

  • Registered Users Posts: 790 ✭✭✭ SeeMoreBut

PGA tour has a min of 15 events to retain card but maybe a few more. So after that a lot of the top players will play a couple of times in Europe and maybe another one or two wheelbarrow events in Asia.

After that not many events spare weeks they play for top pro's.

Rory said he also likes not been told when he has to play also. Will Norman allow them to turn up when it suits or does he want them in for 75% of them. I guess everyone will have to soften their stance to make it work.

I think its the greed in these players that everyone is pee'd of with! They are already multi millionaires! So all morals are out the window for more! so how much is enough?

Of course all of us would jump at it but we aren't millionaires so like apples & oranges! Me personally I hope it fails.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,026 ✭✭✭ dublin49

I think Normans flippant dismissal of the horrendous planned murder of journalist Mr Khashoggi was jaw dropping ,I presume he was prepped for that question,I can see how he gets on with Trump.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,911 ✭✭✭ benny79

Yeah I used to love him but the greed in the man is next level! The shark alright for money! If I had 1 or 2 million Id be the happiest man in the world not having to work, golf when I want and a little holiday home in Florida where I'd spend half my time.. awh bliss...

You've got probably about 25-50 players at the very top of the game who are multi millionaires. 99% of professional golfers probably aren't even millionaires never mind multi milliionaires.

Not every player on tour is Rory, Tiger or DJ.
