    Hello!

Got VW Jetta 1.6 tdi automatic. Does this Jetta perform an active or passive dpf regeneration? Thanks.

DPFs usually have 2 types of regen.

Active/passive regen happens usually unbeknownst to the driver while on the road after certain conditions are met (temp, RPM etc)

Forced/service regen is when the warning on the dash has been on too long and it has gone too far to do a passive regen itself. In this case you need diagnostic equipment to tell the car to do a regen.

Your jetta will do it itself provided you drive it enough under the right conditions (no stop/start etc.)
