Theres a Seller called Ken on Donedeal who is selling 'Dura ace 9000 Shifterd' for €225. He has been on before selling simple, also Ultegra shifters. He won't meet for inspection or give a mobile number to discuss the product. Has anyone dealt with him, (if its genuine...). North County Dublin based.......... In the meantime I wont be sending him €225 and holding my breath. Thanks folks.

Typo on line 2 above - should read 'similar'.

I've sold a good bit to a few regulars on here by pm hence why no feedback

I didn't think DoneDeal done feedback, hence why I don't touch it as its typically tyre kickers and timewasters, but weird that he states it, carbon copied from adverts. You can still leave feedback on adverts if you sell via PM so his story doesn't hold up. More that he actually hasn't sold anything.

Personally, unless you like stress, I would avoid it. Might be genuine but why put yourself through that. His old ads are stock photos so could be reselling the same stuff, although by the looks of it, no one trusted him enough to buy it the first time. You can see his stuff on adverts.ie where he has a different address, and re lists it every few months when no one bites.

Well... This line disqualifies an ad for me personally and it doesnt matter if seller is legit or not:

"...I also don't meet... Strictly bank transfer and registered post. Once payment is received i post the item simple"

    Unless you like gambling :).

I read through his "rules" and everyone of them is like something carbon copied from an article on "how to spot a scam"

Agree with all of the above. Looking for a friend, but NOS dura ace 9000 or ultegra 11 speed even like hens teeth.

I’ve a new set of Ultegra R8000 shifters if you’re interested. Still in packaging..

It’s worth looking at his profile and then his comments. Seems to be a fairly grumpy sort to say the least 😃

nicksnikita - Thanks (as long as you're not related to Ken :) ). Can you message me a contact number and Ill contact you / pass it on to my friend whose looking for them. The rest of the set up is all Dura Ace 9000 as far as I know on a retro frame and he just needs the shifters to get it going. Cables would be a bonus but I think he already has a set.

just joined as i was a lurker and never a poster

just my 1 cents and i'm sure it will get negativity

my friend bought 2 items off this guy and guess what happened ???? He received his items , once money was received he sent a tracking number within an hr and items arrived

sure he has his reasons for not meeting up , but negative ireland as per usual

i'd be hesitant to buy online myself but he took a risk and received said items

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 Robert_boyle

    Whatever

just my 2 cents , take it as you will

my friend got his 2 items , simple as

and tbh ive sold stuff before and what usually happens is you meet up and its the buyer usually tries to low blow you or any excuse to not buy , maybe he is trying to cut that out ?

as per usual negativity , but take my commment as you will , i know its the truth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 Robert_boyle

Again i don't know the guys reasons

just know my friend got his items thats all

and ive been lowballed or people don't turn u

    anyway just my opinion

@nicksnikita , I'm v v v interested in the ultegra shifters, my current ones got written off by a car 😢

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 987 ✭✭✭nicksnikita

Ok there was a guy above who was interested in sourcing a set for a friend.

Haven't heard from him today but I’ll check in with him and see what his plan is.

    Cheers

If someone turns up to buy something from me, and then tries to low ball, I just tell them no and walk away. No time for that kind of crap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 Robert_boyle

Maybe thats why he doesn't meet ?

i had an a few off them tbh , expecting new condition despite item less than half price , if you that pushy go buy new

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 533 ✭✭✭Mr. Cats

Dublin Ken says in one of his comments:

”Using a diff account. These are 100% real but back of a lorry job so rather keep myself private.”

So nothing to do with lowballs.

I don’t get how he’s sold so much stuff but has no feedback. He mentions above ‘changed account’?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,760 ✭✭✭Effects

Surely the description and images show people what the condition is like.

A deal is a deal on adverts. I have sold hundreds of items and bought more. I never low ball or negotiate

It is clear you are just the seller who has created an account.

Dodgy account on adverts/donedeal need to be reported and kicked off. Too many scam artist around now

So stolen then, in other accounts they are from a friend whose bike shop closed down in Louth. So not his shop,.

Same ad multiple times and only one has a non stock photo.

As for your friend robert_boyle, great for them, doesn't make them smart, just a lucky fool* but much like the original ad guy, no proof, it is your friend so you can be scant on the detail etc. It isn't negative Ireland and trying to play on people with such childish language shows how poor a con it is.

*in no way implying they actually exist

They are literally in his adverts.ie account and the first hits on google, hardly difficult, I'd say the guts of 30seconds, if even, of effort. Less time than it took you to set up this account to defend this noble and misunderstood seller.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 533 ✭✭✭Mr. Cats

This is gas! You sign up here to defend the guy on the basis of he’s only doing things this way to avoid being lowballed by buyers. When it’s pointed out to you that he says it’s because the stuff fell off the back of a lorry (commonly understood as being stolen), you attack the person quoting ‘ Dublin Ken’ as ‘worse than women’.

So Robert Boyle/Dublin Ken, what’s your problem with women ? 😂😂😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,183 ✭✭✭Quigs Snr

An anonymous friend also told me that Dublin Ken is an amazing and attentive lover. True story bro.

    Hi there

    Just regarding DublinKen

I did some due diligence on him. I contacted Adverts.ie and they advised verification was good albeit Dublin ken did not do himself any favours saying silly things like falling off the back of the truck etc and different locations.

I contacted Dublin ken directly and had a very indepth conversation.

He provided an Irish Iban that checked out fine

I ordered levers Friday he kept open communication through out including tracking number

I think the thread should be closed as although very shifty the guy just wants to remain private and states clearly bank transfer.

If people are wary don't deal with him and worse case scenario had he legged it a charge back and Iban traceability could be used

Goods arrived earlier and absolutely perfect

    Shock horror

    somebody else who received items

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 533 ✭✭✭Mr. Cats

Its fair enough to go into it with your eyes open, assess the risks, and then either decide the price discount is enough to compensate you or not for that risk. Personally I would be very wary of someone who has been around for a while but has zero feedback. I think that’s the oddest part for me.

The other thing that would put me off is that Dublin Ken/Robert Boyle seems to be a bit aggro in comments on this thread and directly on adverts. Again, it doesn’t really matter if all goes as expected but my impression is that you’d be told quickly it was your fault if something went wrong with delivery, for example.

Its a bit like buying carbon wheels from China - it’s a great deal except the x% of cases where it’s a nightmare. Again, that’s not me saying don’t do it, just that the risk is there to be considered.

Thats great but it still doesn't change that his ads are as sketchy as hell but I am glad you got your stuff. I won't be recommending the guy based on it sounding like stolen goods and his general attitude. Glad that it worked ouy for you. Nothing against bank transfer, thats how I do most of my transactions. As for the chargeback on an IBAN, not sure it is as simple as that, traceable but not sure the bank can do anything if he says no, it was legitimate,

No problem thanks for the reply
