Has anyone experience hiring a private investigator?

I'm trying to find out the name of the executor of the will of a deceased owner of an unoccupied house in my neighbourhood that I would like to offer to buy. The solicitor won't name because the will hasn't been proven yet and the solicitor says it's dragging because the appointed executor doesn't want to act and is passing the job onto other members of the family of the deceased, who seem unwilling to come forward. Meanwhile the house sits there and I thought if I got the names/contact details of the family I could at least get a key, look at the place and then make an offer.

An investigator might be able to make discreet enquiries and get me a couples of names and contact details but this is something I've never considered before so i'm wondering if anyone on Boards knows how this works, what are the potential costs etc.

    Treachery and treason

There's always an excuse for it

And when I find the reason

I still can't get used to it

    🙈🙉🙊

Could you not just ask the solicitor to pass on your interest on so the family know about it and leave it up to them.

Or are you trying to go direct to put pressure on them to get a better price while they are stressed out ? Because it could be read that way.

Owner dead long? If on RIP details would give you childrens names if there are any or even better grandchildren, start checking social media and you'd be surprised how easy it might be to find them.

I have tracked down people all over the country through death notices/facebook/google for a pretty harmless reason within last few years, it's surprisingly easy to do! Not as easy if no children though.

I got three months one time for beating up a private detective about 20 years ago. I noticed him and his car around me a fair few times over a period of time even parked down the street so I confronted him and ended up beating the shít out of him. I ended up getting arrested later in the day and a court case.
