Hi all, The AutoSave Draft feature is now disabled across the site. The decision to disable the feature was made via a poll last year. The delay in putting it in place was due to a bug/update issue. This should serve as a reminder to manually save your drafts if you wish to keep them. Thanks, The Boards Team.

Contract gigs in the public sector

Seeing an increase in 3 or 5 year contract middle/senior management positions advertised in the public sector lately, e.g. local authorities, also SEAI etc. In some cases is this to get around panels that might be in place for SEOs etc? Any insights on if these contracts can be converted to permanent posts or if that was a priority would you be better off within panels?

The contracts are for a specific duration and are often attached to specific tasks at HEO/AP level. Eg. I saw one the other day where it was for a building facilities manager at the AP level. The only case I am aware of (and Im open to correction mate) is that if you are say at HEO/AP and go for a job in a general panel at that grade then your AP might be table to take you off the panel if you pass.

Cheers for the reply, but I was more wondering if this was a shift to where they're filling specialised roles in this way rather than taking a generalist off a panel like they would have before?
