Buying a wheelchair car for private use

I've been looking online at Peugeot partners, tepee's, doblos etc. The 5 seater versions of the commercials. Most are wheelchair vehicles. Is there any additional cost to tax them for a private use? Any hassle with insurance companies?

They are private vehicles so would be on emissions tax or cc tax depending on the year.

Many would be currently on exempt tax so you’d need to look at the emissions figure in the registration cert to figure out what the tax is.

What’s your budget? Do you actually want/need a wheelchair vehicle?

No, I don't need a wheelchair access vehicle, but some/most of them have still 5 seats, so still usable for my purpose.

Looking specifically at Tepees, Berlingos 2012-2015. So emission tax.

There are tax reliefs for passengers and drivers with disabilities.

    From citizen information:

" "Disposal" means the sale of the vehicle, the gift of the vehicle to another person and the hiring or renting of the vehicle. The vehicle must not be disposed of for at least 2 years from the date the relief is granted. You must keep the vehicle for 3 years for a specifically adapted vehicle and 6 years for an extensively adapted vehicle.

You will only be allowed to dispose of the vehicle within the retention period if you refund the Revenue Commissioners a substantial portion of the relief given. This is calculated by looking at the value of the vehicle at the time of disposal. "

Not sure when buying a WAV are there any additional costs involved, like register it as a private etc.
