Entering Australia on tourist visa

    Hi

    I am in the process of planning a move to Australia. I have been nominated and applied for a TSS 482 visa and am awaiting approval. I am wondering however if my visa has not been approved prior to my planned flight date, would it be possible for me to enter Australia on a tourist visa while awaiting my 482 to be approved?

    Absolutely not. Australian immigration are particularly strict and they would see it as you moving without a visa and that would end your TSS 482 prospects.

    Just to answer this question for myself in case anyone else is in this position in future. I contacted Home Affairs in Australia and was instructed as follows, you can enter Australia on a tourist visa and have your TSS 482 visa granted while in Australia. However they did warn that if you got unlucky and you 482 got granted before the tourist visa, if the tourist visa is subsequently granted it overrides the 482 as your most recent visa.
