EU COVID Recovery cert sufficient for USA travel ?

vaccinated but had COVID in January and have a COVID recovery cert issued by the Irish department of health. Can anyone who travelled to USA recently confirm if this was sufficient or if they were also asked for something from their gp to confirm they were fit to fly.

The guidance says you need the recovery cert AND a letter clearing you to travel so I wouldn’t chance showing up to the airport without it just in case!

We flew out to the US 20/2 and while they didn't pay too much attention to it, they did review the doctors note along with the recovery cert.

Cost €20 for a letter to cover 3 of us, wouldn't risk not having it for that price.

Had to pay €70 to see my doctor and get the one line letter. Husband had to pay €65. Daylight robbery! Still wouldn’t risk going without it though.

If you've been vaccinated and you have the cert to prove it (per the OP, see post #1), why would you bother declaring that you had Covid when you have to go through all those hoops? Just show them your vaccination cert.

Without a recovery cert or if you've never had it the only option is to show a negative antigen test.. €29pp ..agree its cheaper than some doctors letters though

vaccination cert is only good for 6 to 9 months, depending on location. it sounds like OP was vaccinated longer than that ago.

If travelling on a recovery cert there's no test needed just a fit to fly doctors note.

If you don't have a recovery cert then you just need a negative rapid antigen test taken no more than one day before your flight.

Latest info from the US embassy in Dublin for travel to the US:

APRIL 6, 2022

*** Effective December 6, 2021, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within one calendar day of travel. Alternatively, travelers to the United States may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel. That's essentially what I said above....the documentation from a health care provider is the doctors fit to fly letter.

I think it has to be an antigen test performed by a third party. You can't just do it yourself. I've seen plenty of ads offering antigen tests for travel.
