Looking for a winner that is hard to find, so will chance one at shorter odds today..

2.00 Naas CAPTAIN GUINNESS 15/8 gen

Hard to see where the pace is going to come from here. I should think that Rachael might lie handy early doors, and if there's no one going on, then I think she'll make the running herself on Captain Guinness. Two chase runs at the course, the first saw the selection come 2nd to none other than Energumene, in January of last year. The horse finished well ahead of the third then.. Captain Guinness won his most recent effort over C & D when winning in November in a fast run time.. pace is only a slight worry, and regardless, I think this horse looks about an 11/8 shot for this.. probably have him shorter even,, that's if there was an out and out frontrunner for this 2m trip

I'll be trying to find a shorty to double him with I think.. if not, then the horse'll do in a single,, will hope the price is still decent laterer on in the morning.

    GL

    4.00 Naas

had a good look at this race and nothing jumped off page. Will take a chance and go each way on ONLYHUMAN 20/1 gen for Jessie. A winner several times on the flat, and this 9yr old has only had three runs in total over hurdles. His third in March 2020 at Thurles will give him a chance here,, will draw a line through his latest (hurdles) run at Naas lto, as that was on the back of an 18 month racing absence, and close to two years since he'd had a run over the sticks in public,, was a bit keengoing lto and was beaten about a furlong 😃 ,, but he did 'shape well' the time before that on the flat, and will do for me.

No bet,, he's now a gen and best-priced 5/4 shot, on account of Darosso ~5/2 being pulled from race since posting OP 😒

15/8 was a good price though,, wasn't too worried about Joey O'Brien's horse anyway, and with the race only having three runners, it might be even more of a trappy affair,, which makes Captain Poor value @ 5/4 ; as well as being plenty short enough for me anyroad.

    1.40 Hereford

wanted to find an excuse to back Sashenka, but at a best price 9/4, and general 2/1 shot, is just too shortly priced.. has form from quite a while back in March of last year, which would give her claims... she fell when looking like the winner then.. lto run can be overlooked as 2 1/2m was perhaps too far... Malaita ~ 3/1 may well set the race up for summit else being as she's an out and out frontrunner.. Kerry Lee's ~ 5/2 shot Hellfire princess is interesting, and has seen support from around 7/2 earlier.. has a good bumper run which she won on her first ever race, which was on good ground lto; but I'm not swayed to back her..

If 11/4 or better comes available, then Sashenka be worth a bet,,

just can't find any at all today,,, 😟

    1.50 fontwell,

Nassalam, currently around 2/5. I've backed to win mainly at 1/2 but even at 2/5 looks value to me. This should really win easy here. Very consistent and ran in very good quality races. Nothing much in the race to beat it. Solid win bet.

2.0 naas, Captain Guinness, around 5/4 and very nice odds to lay this horse. I can't see it winning here. I was well prepared to lay at 2/1 and even with the smaller field I don't think it will win. Consistent horse yes, great horse no. If you look on paper and see 3rd at Cheltenham it looks great but it beat 2 home and was well beat. Granted not much in this race but I'll be very surprised if captain Guinness wins here.

Good luck with the double. I'm head to head with you here regarding captain Guinness. Out of the 3 in the race I fancy it the least. Tactics will play a major part, but good luck mate anyhow.

1.40 Hereford, not liking the fav here. Sashenka is currently around 7/4 after being hammered in in the betting. Some are backing it, but I can't see this horse winning. First run after a wind op, and to me the horse looks to want further than the 2m today. I think the 2m3f upto 2m5f would be ideal. Lay here for me.

Captain Guinness lands first leg of double at Naas 😁 yay !

didn't have station and a bet wasn't enough to prompt me to leave house to go to that dispiriting den of demoralizing disheartening dolefulness

:) :) but he wins nonetheless and have the 2fiddy to look forward to - gwan brewinupastorm ! 🤗
