    Hi everyone,

I am looking for advice to see whether anyone would know of any charities, NGO organizations or other that could potentially help me with a large medical bill of 40,000 for undergoing a significant spinal reconstruction with a specialist in London UK.

I had a "spinal fusion" (screws placed into my lower back to fuse / hold vertebrae / bones together) here in Ireland in 2015 which at the time was a great success. After four years of having the screws placed, I had a substantial recurrence of back pain and began having significant mobility problems also, at only 33 years of age. I subsequently went to a surgeon here in Ireland who told me that I most likely had a build up of scar tissue on a spinal nerve causing my symptoms and I ended up undergoing another spinal surgery to have this scar tissue removed. Unfortunately the operation made absolutely no difference to my mobility and pain levels and was told in January of this year that I was looking at long term management of my condition for the remainder of my life at just 34 years of age.

I was not happy or satisfied with the opinion I had been given so actually went for a second opinion in London UK and a third medical opinion in Florida US and was subsequently told by the two other surgeons I visited that I actually had a complete fracture / break of the screws in my spine which is the cause for my ongoing problems. Unfortunately this diagnosis was actually missed by my surgeon here in Ireland and the operation I had last year to remove scar tissue from the spinal nerve was completely unnecessary. Thankfully, the operation I had did not cause any negative results for me, it just simply did not create any positive results for me.

I am now faced with having to travel abroad to the London UK to have the broken screws removed from my spine and have an alternative implant placed instead, but unfortunately my Irish Health Insurance does not cover the UK and the HSE will not pay for this either, unless of course I was to take a legal case of some kind which would take years to resolve.

I desperately need to get this surgery done and get my life on track. I am only 34 years old and have not worked in two years due to spinal and mobility problems and pain not to mention missing out on countless opportunities for socializing, living a normal life ect.

I will be doing a "Go Fund Me" but I can`t see this reaching anywhere near the 40,000 euros I need so am wondering if anyone on here knows of any charities, NGO organizations or other that could help me with finances? Unfortunately, borrowing from a financial institution is not an option available to me.

Thank you for reading. Appreciate all and any suggestions.
