My ma is melting me and my da's head, saying its too high and is going to cast a shadow across her back patio area. Anyone know where I can go to check what the regs are…

If she wants to object she can.
But there are no limits on height of a two story extension. They are entitled to build as high as the house.
There is also no entitlement to light in a back gargen
