Connecting a Hikvision PTZ - no access

    Hi,

I have got a Hikvision PTZ camera which I'm trying to connect to unsuccessfully. The first camera had a fault with the fan and was returned under warranty to the supplier who has returned to me a different camera - different serial number.

I think I may have obtained someone elses return. The box had a serial number different to the returned camera and both of these serial numbers were different to the camera which I sent back under warranty.

I can see in SADP that the camera is there, but I can't connect to it. Do I need to return it again (or the XML file) for them to perform a hard reset on the device so I can use it.

What makes me think it was someone elses return is that the lens did not have any film over - so it obviously was not a new item. It had a different serial number from mine - so I believe it was someone elses item.

Does this sound feasible or should I be able to connect to it. Getting mightily fed up with this camera. I have to say I've been very unimpressed with Hikvision devices and the user interfaces so far. I would have expected them to be a bit more plug and play - the first device was not easy to set up and this is a PITA.

    Any advice appreciated.

    TIA.
