A friend of mine in Cork who is not computer savvy has asked me to put his 2 year old male springer up for sale.

Reason he is selling the dog is because he ( my friend , not the dog 😂 ) can no longer walk long distances due to severe problems with his hips & knees , which resulted in him not being able to get out shooting for most of this season .

Very little done with the dog in terms of rough shooting due to my friend's mobility problems apart from a couple of pheasants shot over him early this season and last summer the dog was used a lot for pigeon roosting & decoying , which my friend could manage to do as he could just sit into the hide .

The dog is steady , good on the whistle and an excellent retriever with a lovely delivery back to hand. No papers with the dog but he is well bred .

My friend is willing to let the dog go to the right buyer /a good shooting home for only €400.

Has the makings of a decent dog for next season for someone who has the time to put into him and show him some game or would be ideal as he is for roosting/decoying pigeons or picking up at a driven shoot.

Anyone who is seriously interested please send me a PM and I'll give you my friend's phone number so that you can contact him directly.

Bumping this up as it looks like my friend's shooting days are over and it would be a shame to see this dog's working life coming to a premature end just because of my friend's mobility problems. OPEN TO A REASONABLE OFFER from a good shooting home for this dog who is already trained and just needs a bit more experience.

I'd take the dog myself if I didn't have two already. A very well bred dog who hunts close , good on the recall, sitting, staying etc...and an excellent retriever . Just needs a bit more experience.
