minor issue with diesel pumps

Hi, the following could very easily be coincidental but I got stopped at a customs checkpoint to check the diesel in my tank, ever since then when I'm filling up the van with diesel the pump clicks as if the tank is full or nearly full. I have to barely press the trigger on the pump until the tank is full.

had anyone any idea what causes this and how to fix it, I only mention the customs as that was the only time that anyone was at the tank.

    thanks for reading

I would suspect their tester has dislodged the gause in your filler neck, now the fuel isn't filling as freely so it's backing up and the pump is clicking out.

reply... no i'm not.... the owner did not fill it....
