Hi , My wife's uncle died recently after a long illness with Alzheimer's ,is there any quick way to find if he left a will?

Contact with his solicitor, or a canvass of local solicitors in the hope of finding one.

Thanks ,I think a canvass of local solicitors it will have to be ,his house hasn't been lived in for years and immediate family are in England ,I'm just trying to do the leg work for them here

There are advertisements in every issue of the Law Society Gazette seeking the will of any information about the whereabouts of wills of deceased persons.

You should arrange for such an ad. It may be that some solicitor has a copy of a will. If not, it will be a matter of administration.
