Is Porn leading to violence against women

"“Obviously, a lot of porn online presents women in a very submissive way and it presents men as very dominant in their relationships with women so that must be having an impact on all the young men and boys who are exposed to this tidal wave of pornography."

Has Ireland returned to the times of purtianism or do we need to educate people more on the unrealistic portrayal of porn in real life? From school (a small country TEC having moved from Dublin) in the mid 90s we were seperated into the boys in one class and the girls in the other. All that we were educated on was the basic mechanics of sex. Nothing about feelings, relationships, power dynamics. To this end most of us ended up pretty normal but a lot of us would also I imagine go on to watch porn out of curiosity or because we enjoyed it as adults.

It strikes me we are thinking of this in reverse - the more we educate men whether college or adult, the more we are likely to see porn in a healthy way. Biology has us programmed to look at each other via assessing physical preferences first

Thus, when faced with high pathogen prevalence, people have heightened preferences for symmetry, which indicates having good genes and thus, greater ability to withstand disease. As another example, when potential mates of the other sex are in relative abundance, people tend to be more selective in their mate choice and exaggerate their preferences for other-sex mates with sex-typical traits. Additionally, near peak fertility, women may have evolved to increase their preferences for masculinity in men, which signals underlying genetic quality

Summing up - don't become puritanical about porn, educate and realize that this is a physical preference dictated by genes
