So you can see tomorrow’s answer today? Well done but does that not take a bit of fun out of life? 🤭

What was the word the NYT took out? 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭SimonTemplar

Assuming NYT keeps the original answer list and in the correct order, I can see the answers for years to come. The developer was obviously thinking ahead!! But I'm genuinely keen to get a decent win streak so I don't cheat like that.

Actually I think I was mistaken above. NYT didn't remove an answer they just replaced it with a different one. About 4 or 5 days ago, the answer on the NYT site was AROMA but the original answer for that day was AGORA. Not sure why they changed it but I think AROMA is an easier answer than AGORA.

I'm confused. I assumed we all see the same word. Today's is far from an obscure one.

While not exactly obscure, how often do you use it in your everyday vernacular? It was flippin tough I thought.

I have legitimately never heard the word in my life and I'm fairly ancient.

nil poi for me today pencil. (or max poi, whichever)

I failed miserably (note to self; don't wordle when hungover).

Agreed, it's a word where there are far more common other words used to express the same thing.

I thought today had a fairly obscure word. I wasn't 100% certain it actually was a word when I guessed it; it just matched my remaining consonants.

When I google its definition, google shows me a few synonyms starting with i that are far more common in conversational and professional discourse.

First guess doesn't look all that special but the eliminated letters were a great help. Only my second ever 2/6. (The first one being a real fluke).

I agree. Although it's a pity I have to state as much...

After midnight we can discuss what word we go today, because I’m not sure we are all getting same word 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,780 ✭✭✭DBK1

I’d be interested to know if we are all getting the same word. Could either of you post up your word after midnight tonight? If today’s word is a word you would use regularly then I admire, along with being jealous of, your command of the English language and at a rough estimate I’d say your vocabulary is superior to 99% of us mere mortals!

I had 3 of the letters and in the correct position and it still took me about 6 hours to get the bravery to press enter on the only combination of remaining letters that might work.
