Irish Ferries new Dover to Calais route

can't believe this isn't getting more publicity but Irish ferries started a new route on the Dover Calais route this Summer. They put two existing ferries on the route, the Isle of Inishmore and the Isle of Inishfree. Looks like they had to be modified to ply this route for very quick turnarounds with a new bow ramp door fitted to allow traffic to drive straight off the ferry.

Its obviously a bit of a risk for Irish Ferries as this is a highly competitive route but very lucrative if they can make it a success. They are targetting Irish trucks continuing to use the landbridge across Britain and being able to book dublin/ Holyhead and Dover/Calais all in one booking. Its still alot faster and cheaper to use the landbridge rather than taking the long sea route directly to France from Ireland while also hopefully picking up new business from Dover to Calais
