My house is an old terraced house and they all have that rendered exterior that was made to look like it might have cut stone underneath. It's got a lot of cracks now and i'm getting around to considering what to do with it. I read something on another forum that said not to paint it, as the render is supposed to wick the moisture away. But i see that people do infact paint these. There are no vents in the house at all, if that makes any difference.

Sealing the cracks and painting would be the most cost effective way to go i'm sure. Is this render just concrete or is it a lime/concrete mix and does that make a difference to what i do with it?
