Going through a rough few weeks and am going to hop on train to somewhere, north or south. Looking for peaceful places where I’ll turn off the phone and journal for a bit…

    TIA

What station will you be using?

Killarney. Would be dead this time of year, people are friendly but would leave you alone. Train right into the center, treat yourself to first class.

Depends what interests you I guess. The Dublin-Wexford train is one of the most scenic in the country. Hop off in Wicklow Town, Rathdrum or Enniscorthy for some nice quiet riverside walks.

Or go all the way to Rosslare Strand - end of the line and the end of the country. You're 200 yards from the beach that marks the end of the east coast and the start of the south coast, and you can look out on 270 degrees of open sea. The edge of a country is a great place to feel like you've gotten away from it all. Lady's Island is a two-hour walk along the cliffs if a long walk is of interest. Accommodation choices not as easy compared to the others, but there'll be a B&B around, or get a taxi back to town of course.

If you told us where you are based we could come up with ideas. Impossible when we don't know that.
