This has been annoying me for a long time. I have it turned off in the settings for it never go into rest mode, yet it does after about half an hour of starting playing. Any ideas ?

FFS, I don't know why Boards did that... Anyway,

It sounds like it's overheating. Play in the menu's for a while or just leave it on for an hour or so and see if it shuts down, if it doesn't, then you need to return it.

Some people experiencing this report that disabling HDMI-CEC (HDMI device link) fixes it.

It's a protocol that allows HDMI devices to send control messages to each other, including power off and standby. So the TV (or amplifier, soundbar etc) is telling the PS5 to turn off erroneously. Might not be your issue but should be quick to check.

Thanks. They seemed to have solved this issue. I have a sound bar, which was probably the reason it was happening
