I am planning to get mortgage loan next year 2022. I have a bad credit history in my credit union. Missed 6 months payment unnoticed due to a very busy daily tasks. Received letter from credit union and was informed myself that my bad credit history was already forwarded in ICB and will impacted my future credit application. I don't know what to do. I can settle the 6 months in arrears but wish to clear my bad credit history in ICB. Need badly your great advice....Cheers!

What's done is done, my advice would to clear up all missed payments as soon as possible, then hope for the best. Do not apply for a mortgage with payments outstanding. The record for each loan stays on file for 5 years after the final payment is made on it.

    Hi Maxhollohan,

Thanks for contacting us here on Boards.ie.

In this instance it would be best to first contact your Credit Union to discuss further and arrange a payment plan with them. If you would like to speak with one of our Mortgage Specialists (0818200247) they can offer some guidance on steps you can take to support a mortgage application.

You can also get free confidential and independent debt managing advice from your local Money Advice & Budgeting Service (MABS) office. Telephone: 0818 072 000 www.mabs.ie

    Thanks
