Recently bought the above Thinkpad for one of my children to be a gaming laptop and for schoolwork.

I upgraded to windows 11 after setting up.

It's performance is pretty awful. Getting 10 - 12 FPS in games like Raft, Valheim and Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Trying to figure if I've chosen poorly or if there is an issue - other people who have this laptop don't seem to be having the same performance issues.

    Would appreciate any thoughts.

Should add to the above - the in game performances above are after having set graphics to their lowest possible levels.

I don't think that this laptop qualifies as a "gaming" laptop.

It is advertised as a business laptop: the integrated graphics adapter is sufficient for powering a couple of external monitors at 60Hz. You should not expect this to run AAA titles like Wildlands, even on lowest settings.

Definitely not a gaming laptop as it's only running integrated graphics

also the integrated graphics on the 11th gen intel cpus at i5 would perform better as the Iris XE graphics are decent

Will run older games at 720p like GTA V

but if you wanted to game on recent titles then you need an actual gaming laptop with at least a low-end discrete graphics card like the nvidia 1650 / 1650 ti / 3050

But Resolution is the most important setting - make sure resolution is set to 720p (1280 x 720) as well as lowest graphic options

    I think that you may be running at 1080p (1920 x 1080)

    Change that and report back
