Riello 40 G3B problems.

    Hi all,

The Riello boiler had been left with it's timer selected on and fired but,we had had the water turned off at the meter to fix a leak outside the property. The safety valve on our oil fired boiler went off, following a resumption of pressure to our house after a water leak was fixed. It drained all of the water system in the house as there appears to have been no provision to seperate the heating plumbing from the domestic supply and the valve blew. Literally. It actually broke. So, we got a replacement valve and fitted it and got the house tank refilled and bled all the rads. Now,the Riello has begun to play up. If it starts,it will run, very smoky and then trip out after about 3 minutes. The red reset lamp does not illuminate and appears to have no effect when pushed. The water pump appears to run (you can feel and hear it running and it's warm to the touch) but the rads stay cold.

    Any ideas?

can't get it to start now at all. I checked the photcell and that is spotless. I have fuel to the boiler and have opened the nut on the body of the unit near the fuel pump and got fuel out of that. No response to reset button at all. reset button is not lit.

Possibly a circulating pump or air in boiler problem...along with it being badly adjusted.

try the reset button on the thermostat under the little black cap with no circulation it probably has tripped

    but wont solve your problem

for info: the reset button worked and the system basically came good after about a day of operation. I had to bleed several rads but the heating is working fine now. The boiler is not smoky anymore and is starting and stopping as required.
