Rad only works when I take off the TRV head

I had a plumber in 2 days ago as one of my rads wasn't working. No heat Was going into it whatsoever. The rad was only installed over the summer so it's a new one. And it was the same plumber that installed and that I had out the other day.

He told me what the problem was ( the pin was stuck) and told me what to do if it happens again. It's happening again, but I can't seem to get the heater to come on at all unless I keep the TRV head off. ( Which I'm guessing isn't the ideal thing to do?). I really don't want to have to get him back out again, especially so close to Christmas.

Is there anything else I can do myself ?? Is it a simple fix/simple issue ??

If the head doesn't work at highest setting, then leave it off until you replace it.

If you have a similar head that's working on another rad, try it on that one.

Head doesn't seem to work at any setting.

I'll have to check the other rads in the morning to see if any are the same as every rad in here seems to be different.

Is it any way dangerous if I leave the head completely off til after Xmas/new year? Or perhaps if I just take the head off for an hour in the evening to heat up that room, then replace the head.

No not any problem leaving it off. If room is getting too hot, throw a towel over all of it or half of it, depending on what delivers heat requirement.
