Engine assembly lube

Anyone with experience of what is good to use as lube when building up car engine.

The engine I'm doing might not be installed for a couple of months so oil is not going to cut it.

All the various lubes on the market don't seem to be stocked locally at all so I'd assume people are using common products.

    Any advice

White Synthetic bicycle grease...its light weight and is easily flushed off by engine oil when time comes for first start....used it on Aircooled VWs for years as recommended by the Haynes Bible.

    Interesting thanks.

    Easy get hold of anyway.

That's the main issue - something that runs off when started and doesn't block anything.
