Another Thor Th20 Problem

Above named dishwasher has lasted us through thick and thin but after five years it started giving lip yesterday.

I found there was greasy water pooled in the bottom and the cycle hadn't completed. I manually removed the pooled water and started a cycle but rather than start up as normal, it made a very soft humming sound for maybe sixty seconds. Then, it beeped exactly thirty times, with two of the lights flashing in unison thirty times.

Anyone know what it might be?

Water left in the bottom and refusing to start with a humming noise = blocked impellor (the drain pump) would be my guess.

No. Don't even consider that.

Turn off the power. Open the cover over the drain - you should be able to see the impellor blades. Carefully move them and you'll probably find a pea or similar blocking it. (generic instructions - I don't know the exact layout of your model but this is basically how all dishwashers drain)

Had it happen enough on my elderly Bosch (its now so old it could drink in America. If it wasn't an inanimate kitchen appliance, and not 110v either) that I can recognise the symptoms way too easily.

But it proves that these things can last more than five years and that people chuck and replace them very prematurely.
