Why are protests done at Leinster House instead of Government Buildings

Don't the policiticans enter via the Taoiseach/Gov Buildings entrance?

Having said that, i like the idea of this setup. Simply draw the back curtains and leave the gimps out in the rain talking to themselves. 99% of modern protests are moronic at best.

Both Leinster House and Government Buildings are all part of the same complex, but the Kildare street entrance is probably the most used one for politicians and staff. Plus it's a bit more acceptable to block up Kildare Street than it is Merrion Square/Street, so your protest will probably last longer over there. There's a certain symbolism and gravitas that "march to Kildare St" has that "march to Merrion St." lacks.

I remember many years ago being on a student protest marching to Leinster House, and the Gardaí set up a barrier at the top of Molesworth St., as they didn't want us blocking up Kildare St. A few of us ran up Fredricks St, up Setanta Place and appeared on Kildare Street. Gardaí had to scramble to get barriers out and ended up blocking the road for us. I can't remember what the protest was for. I had the Neoist slogan "WE DEMAND THAT OUR DEMANDS ARE MET!" on a placard, used to use it for any protest I was on.

Fun times. You should try it. Beats moaning on the internet.
