I received a letter from social welfare today regarding an overpayment in 2016 of €1400. I’m on illness B (203 euros) at the moment so will they take the 15% from that? Or when I go back to work can they take it from my wages? How long do they usually chase people for an overpayment? I’ve heard a few are written off each year…

They won't be written off. The debt will remain associated to your PPS. DSP have the powers to use attachment orders to recover it.
