Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Roof Light condensation

    New extension last November, with two roof lights (the type that don't open)

    From the start there has been about 1" condensation all around the edge of the window in the morning.

    Was advised to get a dehumidifier. Got an industrial sized dehumidifier and put it on every night for about 8 weeks.

    A year later the mould is starting to creep down the walls and the condensation is still there every morning.

    Any advice appreciated.

    did the builder:

    Is there a vent in the room?

    use an air-tight tape between internal vapour barrier and the roof light?

    Ensure insulation continuity between general roof and frame of roof light?

    If you’ve got mould, Suggest you clean it with baking soda and vinegar. And leave the window in room ajar slightly at night.

    Are these roof lights in a kitchen or a room where lots of water is used/boiled etc & are they single or double glazed units?

    A couple of pics would've been helpful but I don't know if you can post pics yet.
