Eir - Samsung RCS messages

    Hello,

    Does anyone know if RCS is availble on EIR? I am using Samsung messages, I try to register but it keeps failing. Only have this issue with EIR.

    I have tried all types of SMS/MMS apps with Samsung S8+ on Eir and still no luck, so I presume issue is with Eir. My wifes Huawei has same issue.

    I read somewhere that some operators block MMS via wifi to increase data useage (we have very poor phone signal).... internet searches show this SMS/MMS issue has been a Samsung problem for at least 6 yrs that I'm aware of.

    Cannot change operators as Eir is the best reception of all....

    I can see this becoming a big issue with online banking 2FA - my only solution is to restart phone, then it works. (yes, tried cache clearing etc)

    I'd be interested to hear from any other Samsung /Eir users.

    Following a comment by someone elsewhere on this board, about issues attributed to number porting, I realised that my number had gone through several networks. So today I got a new sim from eir and the results so far are encouraging.

    I have only tried so far with Textra, and cannot vouch for Samsung messages or Google Messaging.

    So far SMS, long SMS converted to MMS, MMS with camera pic (250k) and MMS with gallery pic (2MB) have all arrived within 2-3 mins!

    Meanwhile, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 2FA will work as well (and consistently).

    Hope this is of some help to others...
