Baxi Boiler Blew Fuse and Trips at Fuse Board

    Hi All,

I am looking for information on my issue please. A few weeks back I moved the main water pipes from under my sink to a new location for a new kitchen.

Yesterday I had to move the pipes as they were in the way of the new kitchen (moved them with my neighbour who is a 3rd year plumber apprentice) turned off the mains water and turned off the hot water taps from upstairs, we had one issue when he disconnected the water pipe that goes to the boiler, water went all over the floor, what looked like a couple of litres of water, (he said I forgot about the boiler one) I cleaned it up, pipes moved successfully. I turned on the mains water and the hot water taps from upstairs, all was OK.

I then went to turn on the heating and noticed the isolator/spur switch light was not on, but the switch was on and the controls to turn the heating on was also off. I went out to the fuse board and the boiler had tripped, turned it back on, went back to the boiler and the isolator/spur switch was dead and I could not turn on the heating.

I know the isolator/spur switch was on at 3.30pm yesterday as the Wife sent a photo and you can see in the background the switch light is on. I changed the fuse in the isolator/spur switch this morning and this blew and tripped the boiler at the fuse board again, I killed the mains power to the house, then turned on the power, then un-tripped the boiler at the fuse board, but when I turned on the isolator/spur switch it blew/tripped again.

Any idea on what my issue could be or how to solve the issue? is the boiler drained and needs to be filled, which would cause the trip.

I will contact a plumber to look at the issue, I will not do it myself, I am just trying to get an idea of what happened.

    Thanks in advance

Possibly water got into the pcb on your gas boiler or time lock/controls.

only a rgi is permitted to work on gas boilers

Electric issue in the box that joins all the cables to the controller to the valves. About a year ago I changed to a smart meter under the grant and the guys who done the job done a very bad wiring job, the rgi guy blew a few fuses before he found the issue. A least the boiler is ok.
