Gorey - info on Clonattin Village

    Hi,

I’m considering buying a house in Clonattin Village in Gorey - phase 1 part. I don’t know the area at all so I was hoping someone here might be able to advise me. When I went to see the house I thought the estate looked lovely, quiet and settled.

But looking online I saw reports of antisocial behaviour, intimidation, thefts, vandalism etc.

Does anyone here know the area or live in the estate? I’d really appreciate some feedback or info from anyone who knows the place and who could advise me on whether it would be a good place to live.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I'd know a few people who live in the estate and haven't heard of any issues. Like any large estate, you'd have a mish-mash of different socio-economic backgrounds, but it's definitely in the top bracket of estates in the town. Young professionals, especially teachers, and young families seem to take up the biggest percentage of the populace. Have never heard of any anti-social behaviour in the village itself either.

It's location is pretty much ideal- far enough away from the centre of town to have a countryside feel, and short walk to both Naomh Eanna GAA club and Gorey rugby club, while the main routes are easily accessible without even hitting traffic in town. Aldi probably an equidistant walk too, though I wouldn't fancy carrying shopping up Clonattin hill. The only potential issue I have found is that the street lighting is poor from the entrance of the estate, along past the graveyard up to the Bridge Bar, but if that's the only problem, it's not too bad.
