How our government reacts to advice given by NPHET.

Many people who comment about this pandemic on the Internet (e.g. this website, social media) have claimed that the government is using NPHET as a shield against the political fallout from restrictions. Is this true? If it is true, does the government really believe that people think that NPHET has more power than the government?

Furthermore, there is no indication of the advice given to the government by non-NPHET personnel concerning the effect of restrictions on people's mental health and on the economy. If such advice has been given, why is the government not disclosing this advice when it is happy to let the advice given by NPHET be reported by the media?

I'd say it's more of a case that the government really believes that NPHET has more expertise in these matters than they have, and therefore more credibility.

many people on the internets say all sorts of sh1te, dont take much of it seriously, serious!

society as a whole, including our health system, is physical health care biased, our psychological needs are rarely thought about, and are generally thought about very poorly, after the fact.....

governments generally are very poorly, and in fact, are very dangerously advised about economic matters, covid yet again reveals this....

being in government is extremely difficult, lots of information would be withheld by all governments for all sorts of reasons, covid is no exception for this fact

all governments engage in mental gymnastics, again for various different reasons

oh, and theres no mad conspiracy here, the media and the government are not really in cahoots, but equally kinna are, again, theres nothing new about this, this is common with most governments

    I'm not saying that there's a conspiracy.

Why isn't the government telling NPHET to provide evidence for these recommendations? What evidence is there of an elderly or immuno-compromised person catching the virus, directly or indirectly, from primary pupils?

Would have thought it was pretty obvious. The more people have it the higher the risk it transmits further. The more you can reduce transmission the sooner we start curtailing the spread
