Golf Insurance is optional, what’s in the small print, why some do, some don’t ? I asked around…

” If your clubs are stolen from the boot, that’s covered “ So my clubs cost €250, yours cost €2,500, Insurance forks out ?

If someone knocks my block off with a wayward shot, or sends me to the hereafter with a runaway buggy, is that covered ?

Anyone got a copy of the Golf Insurance policy document ? Maybe there’s more than one.

Different Insurance afaik. Someone knocks your head off you arent going to be too worried tbh but really that comes under Public Liability Insurance of the venue rather than the individual though the personal insurance is handy in case you decide to claim against the individual that hit you or indeed they could be added as a third party by the insurance company who covers the public liability insurance. Having it saves them losing their house I guess or working for years to pay you off.

Not an insurance expert just had dealings with this sort of stuff years ago so this is just an opinion and without checking the small print.

Many thanks Bobster. I’ve asked AIG to clarify the current policy, including how they determine who is covered. Do they have a list of named players with GUI numbers from each club etc.

Golf Ireland confirmed that insurance policies are controlled individually by clubs.

AIG confirmed that while there was cover for PA under the Golfsure Property Scheme (which included PA), they believe that it lapsed

a number of years ago.It is not something that they are aware AIG is currently underwriting.

Your welcome, If you search "Golfsure Allianz" you will find quite a few clubs have it published.

Few interesting bits of cover I'm sure alot of people don't realize they have.

• Get up to €1000 back on your sub if you injure yourself playing
• Mobile phone covered for damages on the club premises
• Car keys covered if lost on the course
