Do any travel insurance companies offer cover if Gov decide to restrict travel again. I booked a trip to vegas with a travel agents in Ireland, basically told if travel cancelled by gov and plane takes off then its money gone. Trip to the states in Feb, already after paying over 700 to change dates

That has always been the way as it is a restriction rather than a "do not fly". Travel insurance is unlikely to cover something like that - otherwise it would be very expensive.

But I would not be overly concerned. There's overkill scaremongering out there at the moment - a lot of which is being promoted by far right groups to create anger - this them permeates to ordinary people who inadvertently spread the rubbish.

Two examples I've seen is 1 - Hospitality will Close on 13th Dec (or 16th depending on which sh1te text you read) and more laughable is non essential retail will close on Dec 20th.

Of course, both messages say "it comes form a source in the hse"

Sad that people believe social media with such fervency and never question who/what the source is.

You will be going to Vegas in February. You will have a great time.

E700 to change dates? Most airlines are offering free changes whereby you only pay the fare difference.

Best to book with direct with airlines doing free refunds or free change of dates (British Airways, KLM or Air France are a few) but sounds like you already have flights booked so that's no good to you now!

I haven't seen any insurance covering government travel bans but some insurance companies will provide cover if you get covid before or during your trip.
