looking to buy a Kei van or pickup

The Kei class of cars, vans and pickups are a peculiarity of the Japanese market. They are very small vehicles and funny looking and I would love to get one.

I am thinking the following...

Subaru Sambar

Honda Acty

Suzuki Carry

Mitsubishi Minicab

Subaru Domingo

Anyone know of any of these for sale as nothing appearing on Dondeal as avan, although there are a few pickups.

Search for a Piagio van maybe. Might be cheaper or alternatively get something like a Fiesta van or a Suzuki Jimny van if you can find one. Both much nicer than that Honda yoke.

Terrible yokes. No safety at all. The only safety feture in them is brakes and seat belts and you sit on top of the engine a horrible thing when it get hot. Not a fun place to be. Why would anyone want a shi-tbox like that?

rather than start a new thread thought id revive this one - and ask a question- have been looking at a few Honda acty flatbed and thinking about a vintage one ie 92 or older. however have rang around to fbd, Carole Nash and first ireland and all have said they don't cover them. would anyone have a recommendation or an idea as to who to go to ask. I rang a garage that sells some and they said they don't get involved in the insurance side of things- which is fair enough in one way but thought they might be able to guide me in the right way? any thoughts appreciated.

Abbey autoline - I have a 1998 pickup insured on a classic policy with them.

I think you have to be 30 to get classic insurance with them but they cover the south. Know a lot of lads that have jap stuff insurance with them, they are excellent when it comes to modifications aswell

Thanks lads, spent 45 min at axa branch waiting and spent most of that (same) time trying to get a reply off abbey auto line on hold on the phone, eventually got a human and a call back with a quote and left axa well alone. Less than 300 euros for 1500 miles a year or 315€ for 3000 miles a year.. abbey auto line very helpful to deal with.. now to spend the weekend deciding to sh#t or get off the pot and buy the van😀. Many thanks for all the advice

As an FYI. As 3 companies refused cover you can use the Declined Cases Agreement and the 1st company has to insure you, the price has to be reasonable.

I have my VRT appointment next week. Mine is the four seater version so I dont think its a DOE but a regular VRT appointment.
