Carpet underlay 8mm vs 11mm any real difference

Hi there, We are getting carpets and they come with 8mm underlay, if we upgrade to 11mm the cost is plus 450 euro. There is no thicker option. Dampening and insulation is really important to us but surely that is only a tiny difference ? Any thoughts, don't want to regret not getting the thicker underlay. Thanks A

Seems like a lot extra cost for just a few mm. The downside of thicker underlay is that your doors will drag on the carpet.
