    Afternoon all,

I'm looking to do something similar to the attached photo around the wall at my back patio door. All I can find online are wall panels that are very dear (over €100) a panel. I am looking for an alternative in an oak type finish with each strip of wood being 2 x 2 inches I think. It's not a big space.

Any suggestions of where I can get something similar as a DIY project? I'm dublin based. (Northside)

    TIA

    Those aren't 2x2s.

If you look at the video TimHorton posted above, you'll see they are using some serious tools - table saw and thicknesser - to get a neat, consistent result. They're also somewhat underplaying the level of skill which is required to get perfect spacing. If you're not careful tiny errors can accumulate and throw the whole thing off.

Buying panels is likely to work out cheaper and more practical for a small space. Which panels were you looking at?

These look like what you're after...

Panel is really the only way to do it properly.

    Those acupanels look very well.

I'd imagine if you were to price up a whole pile of hardwood beading of similar size, the price would quickly add up. Add in time and further backing such a ply liner and the panel might start to look like value.

Is it for an outside wall?

    Thanks everyone.

It's an inside wall and not a large area by any stretch of the imagination. The dimensions I was looking for is 2x2 inches with a 1 or 2 inch gap between boards. The image I attached first was to give a rough idea of what I was looking to do.

See rough sketch of the area attached.
