How to remove cooker knob

How do I remove a control knob on a Zanussi gas cooker as one is cracked and I want to replace it. I was under the impression that they just pull straight out but apparently not, as I has tried that.

I would have thought the same, have a look at each end of the switch for a recessed grub screw.

According to a video on youtube they should lift off with a little effort. A small screwdriver may be required to get in under the knob to start it moving.
