Dyson DC34 Cutting Out

We have an old Dyson DC34 which starts fine and then cuts out, restarts and cuts out etc. From the googling I have done that normally indicates a blockage, so I stripped it down completely, cleaned everything and reassembled it, but it still does the same thing. Any ideas, otherwise we throw it away.

Definitely sounds like a blockage somewhere.

Where the tube goes into the main cylinder there is a little door/flap thing, check that. We had one where that had got stuck by a small bit of dirt and it did what you are talking about. Its a bit awkward to get at but try make sure it is swinging freely.

my old one did this as well, it was a bad connection for the battery. Ibent the battery tabs out to make a better conection. It would work for a while but problem always came back. In the end i replaced it with a v6, it was so much better. Would love to change it for the latest model but they are just too mcuh money

Ours does this. It's always one of three things.

The whirly bit on the end of the head has stuff caught in it causing strain on the whirly motor this clamping out the battery. Clean out the head.

The device is full. Empty it.

And the filter this is chocked up impacting the airflow for the vacunm again cuts out because of low flow. Throw the filter into the dishwasher and then leave to dry.

Never had any other issues it's always sovled by one of the three above.

Thank you, I tried bending the tabs out a bit and scratched the contacts (thinking they may be a bit oxidised), and it now works perfectly again.
