Birds nest in engine bay

I’m just back from a week away.

I have a Hyundai i10. I was topping up the window washer and I noticed a birds nest forming in the engine bay.

I also noticed a large gap in the engine. Is this normal or has a part been stolen?

    Thanks

Mouse nest I think. No small birds nesting at the moment, and would not use a car that is ever driven.

Yeah, i'm not a wildlife enthusiast but i'd be thinking 4 legged rather than winged.

The gap is normal, there's no full under tray on those. Get rid and check for damage.

The poop suggests a bird rather than rodent droppings
