Almost killed a cyclist

Coming along an 80kph road, around a bend. Two d1ckheads on 'road racer' bicycles and a tractor with a slurry tank oncoming.

Just wondering what do others do in these types of instances? Do you lock your vehicles wheels up risk a crash? Do you hit the cyclists or do you hit the tractor head on?

It's not fair on country roads any longer. If you want to cylcle especially 2 or 3 a breast go to a designated track or something. It's selfish to risk other road users (who dare I say it are insured and taxed to be on the road) lives in a split second decision.

Now I don't hate and am not hating on cyclists , a young lad going to the shop or training on his mountain bike is no concern. It's the road racer types cycling in groups or two and sometimes 3 a breast which really boil my blood. Go to a track or something FFS

The limit on the road in question is 80kph. Wether going around a bend or not the limit is 80kph.

They were traveling in my direction , the opposite side of the road to the tractor

As my driving instructor taught me 20 odd years ago.. "if you can't see, you can't drive"..

So no, 80kph does not apply going into a bend. You go into a bend at a speed that you could safely stop at if you were to meet something unexpected at the other side of that bend.

Regardless of the speed limit, a driver is required to regulate his speed so that he can stop within the range of his vision. If you fail to do this then you are legally not capable of proving that you were driving without negligence. That is the starting point for showing that you are in control of a vehicle.

Not fair at all, it's a high speed main road so to speak. If you were to slow to 50/60 around every bend you would be be getting flashed or honked at by every van/truck driver getting irritated behind you.

There was a local 'cycling club' that used these roads of a Sunday morning for practice I think. It lasted about 4 weeks before the local biker club (as in motorcycle club) literally scared them off the road, it's not safe at all for any slow moving vehicles / cyclists . Everyone in the community was giving out about them but the local MC sorted the problem and probably saved lives. There's eejits will travel the same road at 100/120kph.

Drive as if a tree has just fallen across the road just out of sight around every corner. If you can't stop before hitting it then you are driving too fast.
