I have gout in my feet. Can anyone suggest shoes or trainer I could wear, apart from the old "Granny" styles! Thanks

I thought you would concentrate to put gout into remission or did you give up on that?

@markmoto they are looking for the shoes, stay on topic.

@madmaggie that can be pretty spendy, there are specialised shops of course, locally i have foot solutions, depends what you are comfortable doing and where you are located.

Similar due to having renal cell carcinoma. I lost a kidney in 2017. Allupurinol works to a point

Be interested in hearing any experience of using orthothics etc

Thanks all. I went for Skechers, comfy, but limited styles.

Re orthotics, I got custom made ones from a physio clinic a few years so, pricey but excellent. Unrelated to the gout.

Also, I have not given up on dealing with the gout, as inferred. I found incorrect footwear aggrevates it.

id be interested to know how you got on with the shoes?

I've had Gout for 10 years on and off and have tried many different things to manage it but never thought to look at my shoes?

in recent years ive been giving blood religiously 4 times a year to try to get rid of the offending uric acid that might cause the gout, it doesnt raise its head often but when it does you know all about it.

I was wondering recently would there be more to be gained from giving Plasma as you can do it more often? if the uric acid resided in the Plasma then id be willing to give it a go but i believe once you go to plasma then you cant go back to giving blood?

    anyone any experience with either?

@chopsey I find the Skechers go walk excellent, also the dual lite sandals.

Due to the pain, I went for physio earlier in the year. It was the opinion of the physio that I hadn't gout at all, but arthritis. No pain at all since physio if I keep up the exercises.

thats great news for you, i really hope for your sake that the pain stays away
