Race geometry bike with mudguard eyelets

I have lots of bits in the shed and nearly the making of a complete bike. The only thing missing is a frame. And the only bike I don't really have is something for the winter that can take mudguards.

Is there anything with a semi-race geometry, (just find the bikes set up for racing suit my shape more than the more upright sportif ones,) that can take mudguards with the eyelets? I've used SKS clip on and they nearly end up being more hassle than they are worth. I'd like something I can just set up for the winter and leave it, no need to be constantly adjusting rubbing mudguards. There's probably a real obvious one I'm missing,

Trek Domane takes full mudguards, it has that isospeed suspension thing which I’m not a fan of,

Cheers Jakub, had noticed that one alright, but it weighs a tonne. Near 10kg fully built! Doesn't need to be a weight weenie but that weight is crazy, especially for the money they charge.

I got this one for my similar winter build from old bits with rim brakes. It’s not light but cheap and geometry is fairly similar to my good bike.

CAAD13 has eyelets.

Also look at PDW Full Metal Fenders. I've them set up 9 months of the year on a CAAD10, no eyelets needed.

Yaw, never trust the first hit on your googlfu. They're a lot cheaper than that, but still very expensive "for mudguards". I've been using the same set since mid-2018, the only bit of maintenance being having to drill out and stick a new rivet in the front brake bracket twice. Rock solid, no flex, full coverage.

Do those metal ones not make a rattle out on the road when you hit a bump? Not that I'll ever know at that price.

I have to say I'm quite happy with SKS Raceblades. Have had them for years and the only issue was the rubber straps breaking but these can be replaced. They started to slip around a bit last year so I had to drill the little screw in through the mudguard into the mount. Supposed to do this when new but I never bothered as they were solid enough.

Nope, zero noise from them unless you hit a hole so hard that it'll rattle your fillings. I actually bought my set at a good discount on here new unused, but I was about to pay full RRP for a set, just got lucky. As a 12 months of the year commuter pre-covid they're worth every penny IMO. I'd have no hesitation buying another set if something killed these.

Used various different versions of SKS Raceblades, the older ones, the current versions, the Long .. but once you go to a full mudguard for wet riding it's hard to go back to something that makes the compromises they do i.e. not long enough front or rear for foot/leg coverage or stop a plume of spray up behind; the style of the rear meaning you'll probably end up stripping and rebuilding your rear brake once a year; the style of the front only being behind the fork with no front extension, and sending crud straight at your lower headset bearing. But for all that, they have their place too and they're 100 times better than nothing on a wet day.

Can't bate a good mudguard. They were an epiphany purchase years ago. When I see lads out on wet days, looking pro ... and absolutely soaked from their own wheels ... jaysus you couldn't pay me enough.

A option would be to use P clips if the frame has no eyelets. I've bought them from SJS previously. They come in various sizes to suit the part of the frame where they will be attached.

I'd imagine they would although they are not 'centered' as such but it shouldn't really matter. They are actually true P clips (shaped like a letter 'P') whereas the cycling ones aren't as the clamp is in the centre rather than being off set.

Actually just looking at the ones in the link I gave above from SJS, they are actually 'P' shaped. Strange that as the ones I got are 'centered'.

Sorry to butt in here, but I'd love to get some proper mudguards on my bike, but there's only about 6mm of room between the tyre and the frame on my bike. I have marathon plus tyres on so I think they are a bit more chunky than regular tyres.

I had those on a CX/gravel bike and they are a great bit of kit for that use, there's two issues for you possibly, firstly the rear guard would have to fit through your brake calipers to clip on to your downtube (there's a handy slide out system which lets you maximise coverage if you have space but makes the guards slightly more bulky) you may or may not have clearance for that. Secondly they don't drop down much behind the rear wheel so don't give much coverage to anyone behind you, not really a problem on a gravel bike but for a lot of road use could be if you cycle with friends.

They are great for the intended use though, easy to fit and no issues at all after.
