We've had our share of great musicians and Paddy is right up there with the best.

    Such sad news.

Himself and Liam Óg were (and are) absolute idols of mine.

Both huge losses to Irish music. The absolute breadth of diverse music that Paddy was involved with, and produced, and inspired was just incredible.

    RIP

RIP Paddy. A legend. I grew up just around the corner from where he was from, and knew some of the family years ago.

I have a fantastic photo somewhere that my Dad had from primary school. It was of my Dad, another guy, Paddy Moloney (my Dad always referred to him as "Jigs") and John Sheahan from The Dubliners together as 8 or 9 year olds. They were playing in a trad group together for some event in the school. Who would have known back then that two of them would grow up to be absolute giants in Irish music.

Paddy's a man who deserves all the praise he gets, and then some.

The Chieftains were literally the first Irish music I ever heard, when they collaborated with Ultravox on their song All Fall Down:

Paddy had the most amazing tank top in this, too.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

    My thoughts exactly.

the chieftains are head and shoulders above the other groups in Irish music and I include the like of the dubliners and Wolfe tones in that.
