Carers allowance on Form 11

I'm all but about to throw the towel in and get an accountant but 2final questions here first.

    1. I received carers allowance in 2020 which I've entered on the form 11. In paye anytime, it says that my tax credits are reduced by €1925. I've no idea what this means as I'm not paying PAYE?
    2. PAYE anytime also has me listed as recieving an employee tax credit of 1625 (husband is the same and as we're joint assessed, I presume that's normal). Should I be ticking the box for personal tax credit on the form 11?

    thanks

    1. it looks like your carers allowance in 2020 was €9,625 and it takes a reduction of 20% of that in your tax credits to code it into PAYE. ANy tax credits over that are available for other income.
    2. If you're filing form 11 then the personal (married) tax credit will automatically be granted from your status box at the beginning of the form. However as you're in receipt of DSP income you are entitled to the PAYE / Employee tax credit so you tick that box just as your husband would have to tick it as entitled against his PAYE employment. The €1,625 seems a little odd as the credit is €1,650. It will only grant that credit to the value of 20% of the DSP or PAYE income if that comes out less than €1,650. So if DSP income is say €8,000 you can get max of €1,600 not €1,650. Your personal tax credits of €1,650 each are allowable in full.
