Sorry if this isn't in the right category. A friend of mine has an interview but they want to do it on zoom. Neither of us has a clue how to do this. Could anyone give me a link for downloading it. Is it free?

Go to their website. All the instructions are there. Failing that, just click on the link they sent your friend. It will prompt them to download the client on the spot

Thanks to you both. I'll pass this on to my friend.

Lots of courses are being delivered via zoom. I would recommend having a practice before the interview so you know where the controls are etc. It would look really unprofessional if your friend wasn’t able to unmute themselves are had their video feed turned off and didn’t know how to turn it on etc. There tend to be a lot of technical difficulties with zoom which are mostly down to user incompetence or poor internet connection. Even set up a practice meeting with your friend. I think a meeting shorter than 40mins is free.

Also do the interview from a laptop or pc, do not use a mobile phone, I can’t stress that enough.

Look at joining an online club where you can see how zoom works.

One of the best out there is Toastmasters where you learn public speaking skills and impromptu speaking.

But another benefit is the zoom academy they also run.

Over 100 clubs in Ireland and many are continuing online for some meetings. Some are online only clubs too.

You can join a meeting as a guest at no cost and if you decide to join a club it's about €90 for the year.

You can run a test session in advance, just go to this web page:

    https://zoom.us/test

Do you even need to download the client/app , if you open the link in the browser it should ask you if you want to use the web version or to get the app.

The app is not hard to get the hang off and just set up a test interview with your friend and you can make sure audio and video is running good and you know the controls. You might need a headset you might not just just do the test interview before hand and you will be fine.

    Good luck in the interview!

Yes the app is not needed but it is handy for configuring your settings on your side, you can assign a background or change the focus on the camera.
