Shed wiring

I have built a shed near the house and I would like to put a few sockets and a light in it. I had an electrician run a cable to it from the house (this cable has not been connected to the consumer unit yet).

When getting this connected, should I ask to have a separate MCB installed?

And for wiring the shed, I feel that I would be able to do it myself, but would this be legal, and do I need to have it certified by an electrician?
