New small family car, which is best current deal?

We are looking to change a 2011 206 to a new slightly bigger family car, not pushed on EV or not, but will go with it if can get a good deal. It’s for daily 20 mile round trip commute and similar weekend trips, so we are well suited It seems. From a browse in the threads, it seems delivery is a big issues, and also we looked at VW a few weeks back but all their offers have disappeared.

mainly been looking at Leaf and ID.3, as solid each choices, leaf seems easier to get and new one looks well, good space etc, if slightly outdated. ID-3 seems boringly solid and a delay to get one, lack of heat pump a problem? the leaf front charging position would really suit our drive in driveway. Any other strong opinions. We are considering a PCP deal. Ionic 5 etc look great but presume long long wait. Any tips on whether there the usual expected 5-7% room to move on price on either or not because of waits?

Corsa is competent and should have relatively keen pricing but is small inside.

A car that looks to me like good value atm is the Ioniq 38kWh. A good few around with dealers and I get the impression good deals are possible. Hard to beat for efficiency and nicely equipped. Looks aren't for everyone (I like it) and not great if you need to do a lot of fast charging.

 Ioniq 38kWh is a hidden gem - at the right price. I would be looking for one at 28-30k

Be aware there is a battery recall in place with them. Play your cards right, you'll get refreshed battery after a year of driving, and maybe an extended warranty to boot.

Avoid the one with the white dash at all costs!

Yea, think it looks possible, but nothing concrete on that. A good comfortable smaller family car with reasonable room. And the 5 yr full warranty gives great comfort for those planning on holding on to the car for a while..

Corsa ruled out, we definitely want a ev only design. I.e to get that extra internal space benefit is important. A big part of the benefit.

All cars are short supply so very little wiggle. Ioniq 5 is a large family car similar to id4. Very good though.

Your mileage is very low so any small petrol 2nd hand would fit the bill. If you have the budget work away. I'd agree that id3 just seems overpriced and underwhelming. The leaf is solid but no where near as good as current EVs. It's lower price sweetens the downsides though.

If you want to save money, there is not much money to be saved in going EV based on your mileage. If it's a second car then a 24kWh Nissan leaf with a range 60 to 80km may fit the bill for possibly 8000 euro outlay bit it will be old and bigger than 206

Everything else newish will be expensive and not save you anything compared to petrol and you have the downside of if you travel beyond the round trip range you need to find and stop at a public charger which may be busy, blocked or broken. So it's not worth it unless you have another car in the household for cross country trips.

Thanks for that, yep this is a second smaller car. We have a larger car that we would always use anyway for longer trips. It’s not really to save money asuch, we are replacing a 10 year old car with a new/Newish one and the trips are well suited to an electric care, we have somewhere for a charge point and the performance spec and options ones are relatively good. While it’s the most friendly to the environment car option for us.
